time as well as see many of the great places his own country has to
offer. Stay tunes for dates and locations of shows.....
March 2011 - Adam's first single "Too Crazy For Love' from the
album 'Holding My Breath' has entered the Australian Country Music
Channel charts this week. Keep requesting the song!!.............
Adam's new single 'Keep Holding My Breath' is getting played 168 times
in a week. That's every hour on the hour. Other acts selected for this
honour over the last 6 weeks on 1395am include Brad Paisley and Lady
Antebellum.
BIO....... Born and bred in country Victoria, Adam Toms is one
of Australia's up and coming modern Country Music singer/songwriters.
.........While growing up in the picturesque landscapes of rural
Victoria, Adam spent his teen years playing in pub rock cover bands
where his talents in singing and guitar flourished and ignited a passion
for song writing.
......Before long, Adam heard the call of the big city lights of
Melbourne and soon moved for a new adventure.
.........It seems that it was a destiny call, as not long after moving
Adam met and teamed up with Aria award winning producer/engineer Doug
Roberts – best known for his work with artists such as The Badloves,
Chocolate Starfish, Boom Crash Opera, Paul Kelly, John Farnham, Mick
Jagger and Chris Wilson. In time, Doug introduced Adam to Peter Farnan
(Boom Crash Opera) with a view to write some songs together. This proved
to be a successful collaboration and the pair wrote many songs.
Eventually, Doug, Peter and Adam co-produced a solid album, which lent
itself to a 'commercial radio Rock/Pop' theme. Many of these songs
received support from numerous community radio stations nationally.
......Nevertheless, as successful as his work was becoming, Adam soon
felt as though there was something missing.
........Over the course if the next year Adam realized that the genre he
had been pursuing was not a perfect match. Many people had suggested
that his music leant to a more 'Country Rock/Pop' vibe and over the
Easter of 2008, Adam had what he calls a 'Light Bulb Moment'.
............"I was listening over my old demo's one day and realized I
have a bunch of material which was never written with the intent of a
country rock/pop vibe but its all as clear as day to me now. This is
what I need to be doing. It all makes sense!" As it seems, you can take
the boy out of the country but you can't take the country out of the
boy.
.........Adam had always listened to Country music growing up however it
took a few years for it to really start to show in his own writing.
............This process of moving genres is what has resulted in the
amazing blend of musical styles that we find in Adam Toms' songs. A
little like Keith Urban, there is a soothing beauty in Adam's voice
along with stirrings of a kind of heart and soul found in Eric Clapton's
lyrics and storytelling.
..........Also mixed into the cocktail of styles you will find hints of
Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Hendrix and Gary Moore. Add a twist
of country twang and you have Adam Toms.
..........With this new focus, Adam decided to lay down some more tracks
in the studio and called on Doug Roberts again for the recording,
mixing and co-producing duties. An all-star cast of players was
assembled for the sessions. With John Favaro (Badloves) on bass, Tony
Floyd (Things of Stone and Wood) on drums, Tom Baeppler on guitar and
Keys man Sean Bowen completed the mix with Andy Baylor adding Mandolin
and Fiddle. The outcome was the creation of amazing soulful modern
country rock.
......... Adam's first single '6 Months Of Lovin You' was released in
mid 09 on a 4 track EP. Make sure you get a copy, it's a track you will
definitely love. The follow up single 'Sugar Lips' also had high
rotation on radio and CMC in Australia.
...........Over the last two years Tomsy has shared the stage and
supported some of Australia's finest acts including, Lee Kernaghan,
Melinda Schneider, Troy Cassar-Daley, McAlister Kemp, and Jetty Road.
.....In 2010 Adam recorded his full length album produced and mixed
Golden Guitar (Album of the Year) producer Matt Fell. Combining a blend
of country rock, blues and pop it's sure to please a huge audience.
